Roy and Rose Borrone started Cafe Borrone in 1979, on Broadway Street in Redwood City. Food had always been a cornerstone of appreciation in the family - and they had begun a mission to spread that joy to the community. After the Menlo Center had been constructed in 1989, Roy made the decision to change locations - with the appeal of a large patio and seating area for a bustling casual atmosphere. All five of their children worked at the family restaurant, with Marina Borrone (right-most figure in photo above) learning how to run the restaurant at 18 years old and soon orchestrating the operation at 23. Cafe Borrone has grown to be an institution of Menlo Park, and how many like to put it - developed its own heartbeat!
